Year 4 prepare for Harry Potter trip with a special 'Sorting' ceremony

Year 4 are off to Warner Bros. Harry Potter studios in London later this month to find out all about the making of the worldwide wizardry phenomenon and in order to ensure the pupils were really ready for the trip, they took part in a special 'Sorting' ceremony on Wednesday 9 January.

As made famous in the books and films, at the start of every young wizard's career at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry, the first years have a sorting hat placed upon their heads which then decides which House the children are put into. There are four Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

As the girls and boys from Year 4 entered the School Chapel, the 4 banners were put up around the room, and at the front of the Chapel lay a special sorting hat on a chair. One by one the children came up to the front, had the hat placed upon their head, and then their fates were decided.

There was a lot of cheering involved, some nervous pupils and lots of happy witches and wizards. It's safe to say Year 4 can't wait for their trip to the studios!
