The competition heats up in inter-house Lower School Bake Off
There was a buzz amongst staff at St George's College last Friday (25 May), as the Lower School inter-house Bake Off final took place - and that meant delicious food for the staff to judge!
Each House was represented by a budding young chef, with each chef being tasked with making and presenting 6 savoury pastries. The competitors were then judged on appearance, uniform size, colour, texture and most importantly, flavour!
As the bakers put the final touches on their culinary creations, the judges arrived, eager to give their taste buds a treat.
With the competitors looking on nervously, the judges started tasting. One by one they tasted, scrutinised and marked. Then it was time for the results.
1st place: Petre (Asparagus and Parma Ham on a bed of Thyme, Pepper and Cream Cheese)
Joint 2nd Place: Woburn (Goats Cheese and Pepper Pastries) and Stirling (Sausage and Caramelised Onion Squares)
4th Place: King (Mini Goats Cheese Tartlets)
5th place: Kilmorey (Avocado, Cream Cheese and Salsa Pastries)
6th place: Southcote (Red and Yellow Pepper with Courgette and Feta Cheese Pies
Well done to Petre and to all of the competitors, the judges were delighted with the quality of food and one judge even commented "you can come and cook at my house any day!".
St George's would also like to thank Ashley Ede for the wonderful new trophy that he created especially for the competition.
