St George’s Choirs sing at CISC Conference 2015

Last week, the Catholic Independent Schools’ Conference (CISC), celebrated its 25 th anniversary, and in honour of that they welcomed His Eminence Cardinal Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor to preside over their anniversary Mass, inviting St George’s College, Weybridge Chamber Choir, St George’s Junior School, Weybridge Chamber Choir and the choir of Notre Dame Junior School, Cobham.

The combined choirs performed Goodall’s Love Divine and Rutter’s A Gaelic Blessing accompanied by strings. Notre Dame gave a charming performance of Psalm 23 from Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and SGJS Chamber Choir sung Faure’s Ave Verum beautifully. The mass setting was Mozart’s Missa Brevis in Bb, sung by the College Chamber Choir, with a stunning rendition of the Benedictus by Molly Parker. During the service, a number of the College instrumentalists bolstered the hymns and a string trio played before and after the mass.

The College Chamber Choir was also delighted to have been invited to entertain delegates at the Conference Dinner, performing a capella favourites such as The Bear Necessities, Blackbird and an arrangement of Postman Pat by OG Luke Mather, before singing Grace, Oculi Omnium by Charles Wood.
