RESPeCt committee visit Worth Abbey for Good Shepherd Celebration

The children in RESPeCt (the RE and SPiritual Committee at St George's Junior School) had the honour of visiting Worth Abbey for a very special celebration last week (20 June).

Every year the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton invites children from all of its schools to gather together for the Good Shepherd Celebration. Bishop Richard led the celebration and this year the theme was “Lord, we are your hands.”

The children were taught to appreciate that they are Jesus' hands on earth – he loved and shared with everyone and so everyone should strive to do the same.

Children from all around the Diocese joined together to listen to readings, sing and dance as they learnt about the importance of understanding how relatively fortunate they are and thinking about what they can do to share with others.

The morning concluded with one big picnic shared among all of the schools in the sun, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

St George's pupils left the celebration with a clear understanding of what they can do to help others and what they can do to share their love with everyone.
