RESPeCt Committee enjoy a prosperous Easter Term
The RE and Spiritual Committee (RESPeCt) at St George's Junior School had a very prosperous Easter Term helping to raise awareness and money for their chosen charity, CAFOD.
Their work began at the beginning of March as they invited guest speaker, Nicola Michael from CAFOD, to come and speak to the Upper Years about the challenges people in Bangladesh face and how CAFOD is trying to help them and others like them in need all around the world.
Mr Hudson then presented Nicola with the first cheque for £1183.24 - the proceeds of the school's last Mufti Day - and promised to invite Nicola back once Lent had finished and the 'Fun Run' had taken place.
The RESPeCt Committee then came up with some Lent challenges for the whole School - including putting money in jars to give to charity instead of buying new items - and finishing with a truly happy and joyful ‘Fun Run’ on Wednesday 3 April - again with all funds raised going to CAFOD. They were very clear that this was not a competition but a time to enjoy being active, running with friends and taking on a special obstacle course.

The 'Fun Run' - 'Colours for CAFOD' - was a very happy day for the School. It was filled with laughter and lots of enthusiasm from each and every one of the colourfully-dressed children who took part in it and the school was delighted to announce it had raised another £1055.55 for CAFOD.
Mr Hudson then kindly agreed to top up the money of the class that raised the greatest amount in their jars and announced that they would get to choose one of the ‘World Gifts’ from the CAFOD Website with the money they raised in their classes.
After collecting and counting the 32 Jars, the Junior School raised another £1076.46 for the charity, bringing the final total to £3,315.25.
Well done to the RESPeCt Committee for leading the School in this wonderful initiative with so much zeal and to each child and their families who donated so generously.
