Local schools join Year 2 for a special Able Learners' workshop

As part of our Able Learners’ Programme at St George's Junior School, some of our Year 2 children took part in an exciting reading workshop on Thursday 2 May led by talented storyteller and author, Chris Connaughton.

The children were joined by pupils from local schools: St James’, Holy Family and Cardinal Newman.

All of the pupils were thoroughly engaged throughout and had great fun analysing the opening passages of Matilda, where they looked carefully at the language used and also had to think about how ‘reading for meaning’ can inspire their own creative writing.

It was a wonderful morning with every child from each school getting involved and sharing their ideas with one another. St George's would like to thank Chris Connaughton for coming in and sharing his expertise.
