Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent at the Junior School

On Wednesday 6 March, pupils at St George's Junior School, Weybridge marked the start of Lent with a special Ash Wednesday Service.

Fr Robert, CJ led the Mass and explained not only the importance of Lent to the children but also explained the reasons why ash is marked upon each person's head. The children listened carefully as they thought about what they could do to help others in need this Lent and they also took part in the bidding prayers and offertory procession, whilst the Junior School Chamber Choir were on hand to sing some beautiful hymns. 

After having ash placed on their foreheads, the children and staff alike combined to finish the service on a high by singing hymns loudly and enthusiastically.
