Dinosaurs and spectacular hats take centre stage at Annual Book Fair

The Annual Book Fair at St George's Junior School took place last week (14-18 May), where children from every year group had the opportunity to discover new books and reading materials for the summer ahead!

During the book fair, the Nursery and Lower Years' children were treated to a very special author visit on Tuesday 15 May, from the remarkable children's author and illustrator, Sarah McIntyre. Now Sarah is renowned for wearing the most spectacular hats and amazing outfits at her readings, so all the children had decorated their own colourful hats to wear during her talk as an homage to Sarah.

Sarah read her newly published book 'Dinosaur Firefighters' and showed the children how her book was made and photos of her 'creative workspace' (her office).

During her talk she showed the children how to draw a dinosaur – the children all joined in and produced their own wonderful images of Dipsy the dinosaur (even the teachers had a go!).

At the end of the day Sarah signed many copies of her books for the delighted children.

St George's would like to thank Sarah for such an amazing visit – she has inspired all of the children to be authors and illustrators.
