The sport programme at St George’s College provides a wide breadth of activities in both Games and Physical Education lessons.
The physical education programme provides a wide breadth of activities in both Games and Physical Education lessons. Within PE lessons the emphasis is on planning, performing and evaluating an activity, in a co-educational environment. Activities covered include Badminton, Gymnastics, Dance, Football, Volleyball, Athletics, Basketball, Handball, Table Tennis, Lacrosse, Trampolining, Leadership, Softball and Strength & conditioning. Activities are taught in four to six week blocks and are followed in many cases by an inter-house competition. Opportunities to develop a further interest are found in the activities programme.
Girls can play Hockey, Netball, Tennis and Cricket, and boys can play Rugby, Hockey, Tennis and Cricket. In addition Rowing is offered from the third year. There are many extracurricular activities on offer including Athletics, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Football and Golf.
The department offers a highly successful A Level course in Physical Education. These multi-dimensional courses enable students from a wide variety of subject background to explore physiological and psychological factors that influence performance plus historical and cultural influences.
