Young minds tested at inter-house speed chess tournament

Young minds were tested on Friday 13 January at St George's College, Weybridge as students competed in the Junior Inter-House Speed Chess Tournament.

In a battle of wills, boys and girls from the lower years took turns in their respective School houses to try and oust their opponents at the game of chess, with the element of speed adding extra intrigue as each student only had a specific amount of time before their go was up.

In a close fought encounter, Stirling House triumphed as champions, followed by Petre, Southcote and Kilmorey.

This was the first in a series of Speed Chess tournaments taking place over the next few weeks at the College, with Intermediate and Senior Speed Chess tournaments taking place over the next two Friday lunchtimes.

Well done to all those who took part.
