Sport in the sun as Year 6 take part in inter-house tournaments

The Orchard Pitch at St George's Junior School was the scene of some fine sporting success on Wednesday 7 June as Year 6 girls took part in an inter-house rounders competition, whilst the Year 6 boys took part in an inter-house cricket competition.

With the sun beaming down on the Orchard Pitch and the new land recently acquired by St George's, the girls and boys competed in their School Houses to win their respective competitions in front of their parents.

In the rounders, the girls put on an excellent display of hitting and fielding, playing the game in true Georgian spirit with smiles on their faces and offering as much support to their peers as possible.

Girls' inter-house rounders results:

1st - Eagles

2nd - Kestrels

3rd - Owls

4th - Hawks

Whilst this was happening, the boys were competing in an inter-house cricket competition. Dressed in their St George's cricket whites, the boys took turns bowling, batting and fielding for their respective Houses. Again there was a wonderful spirit to the game, with lots of cheers of support coming from fielders when their peers were bowling or batting. With lots of runs being scored, the teachers were kept busy trying to keep an eye on the scoreboards.

Boys' inter-house cricket results:

1st - Hawks

2nd - Kestrels

3rd - Owls

4th - Eagles

Well done to all the teams that took part and especially the winners of each competition.
