Year 4 Romans conquer St George's Junior School

Before half term, Year 4 had a fantastic day learning how to become a Roman soldier.

On Wednesday 11 October, the girls and boys all arrived at the Junior School dressed up as soldiers, gods and goddesses. Sir Teachalot, the Roman solider, lead the workshop and taught the children some common Latin phrases and commands, he taught the pupils about battle formations and even showed them some replica armour and weaponry.

The day consisted of learning about battle formations, what the life of a Roman soldier was like, understanding Roman discipline and there was even some chariot racing and gladiator battles! The girls and boys particularly enjoyed the dramatic retelling of the story of 'Boudica's Revolt'.

It was an excellent day for the Year 4 pupils (and staff!) and the children all gained a huge amount from it.
