'The Great St George's Lower School Bake off'

One student from each House took part in 'The Great St George's Lower School Bake off' at the College on Monday 12 June.

The inter-house cookery competition started off back in May with two heats for the different Houses. At the end of each heat the strongest contender from each House was announced and their place in the final was booked.

Then, on Monday, the finalists entered the kitchen to try and bake their way to victory. The students' task was simple, to bake and present 6 identical muffins (savoury or sweet). Both finalists from Southcote and Kilmorey decided to make the rare 'doughnut muffin' - a mixture of a doughnut and a muffin, Petre's finalist opted for blueberry and white chocolate muffins, whilst Stirling's best hope decided to bake toffee apple cobbler muffins.

After a nervous wait for their muffins to bake in the oven, the judges arrived, eager and hungry, ready to taste some delicious muffins.

After much scrutiny, tasting and inspecting, the judges made their decision.

The results:

1st place - Stirling

2nd place - Kilmorey

3rd place - Petre

4th place - Southcote

Congratulations to Stirling and to all of the girls, the judges were thoroughly impressed with their efforts and left the kitchen feeling very satisfied and full up.
