St George's celebrates 35 years of service for Groundsman

St George's, Weybridge celebrated 35 years service of one of its hugely popular Business Staff members on Friday 11 August at the College.

Kevin Wicks, Groundsman, first started at St George's in 1982 and this May marked 35 years since he joined the Georgian family. Kevin has been involved in overseeing and working on a number of huge building and facility projects over the years and has seen dramatic changes in the landscape at both the Junior School and College. Kevin has worked under a number of different managers and Bursars and has seen a lot of key staff arrive and depart. Kevin also had many interesting stories to tell some of the younger members of the Facilities team about how the grounds used to look and the works processes in the past compared to now.

There was a small celebration in the Orchard Hall on Friday with Kevin’s Facilities colleagues, the Bursar and St George’s friends all wanting to wish him congratulations on an amazing achievement. Kevin was presented with several gifts to thank him for his service and was touched to find out that a room at the Junior School would be named after him.

St George’s would just like to thank Kevin once again for his service and hard work over the past 35 years and we look forward to working with Kevin for many years to come as he shows no signs of stopping work anytime soon.
