Spirit and fitness shine through at Jospehite Superstars Competition
On Tuesday 9 May, a group of Third Year students from St George's College travelled to Melle College in Belgium for the annual Josephite Superstars competition.
The main purpose of the event is to share in each other’s Josephite culture, whilst the sports event format is based on the old BBC TV Superstars Programme.
Four boys and four girls travelled to Belgium where they were selected to compete with other schools in a range of sporting challenges, including a swimming competition, a 3 km run, a timed skill based circuit and some fitness testing.
St George’s boys and girls fought hard with a great competitive spirit and their high levels of fitness shone through. The team was delighted to finish in first place, showcasing the incredible team effort.
In addition to this, one of our Third Year girls was awarded the 'top girl' award, with the boys then dominating their category with St George's students coming first and second in the 'top boy' award.
As well as taking part in the competition, the students also spent the night with their Belgium counterparts and received a tour of the College, as well as a tour of the Museum by Father Paul. It was a fantastic experience for all and St George's is very grateful to our hosts at Melle College.
