SGC Maths Quest November 2017: Solutions

St George’s College, Weybridge invited children from Years 5 and 6 at all local schools to take part in the November 2017 instalment of the SGC Maths Quest challenge.

Each Half Term, St George’s College provides a Maths problem for children from Years 5 and 6 to solve. All correct entries are displayed on the St George’s Weybridge website at www.stgeorgesweybridge.com

SGC Maths Quest 1: Solutions

Below are the correct solutions to the following problem:

The number 0-9 can be made using matches in digital form, see below, like you see on a clock or a calculator screen. By moving, or removing matches, we can change what is being displayed and hence change the calculations.

A big congratulations to the following students who found correct solutions to all four problems:

Micah, Aarash, Clelia - all Goldsworth Primary School

Shiwoo, Yuvan, Lucy, Charlie, Felix and Luca - all St George’s Junior School

A special mention must also go to Naia, from Upton House School, who was first to answer and Luke, from St George’s Junior School, who found both answers to Problem 4.
