Maths Quest Easter Special 1
Below are some fractions. Choose as many, or as few, as you want and add them up. You can only choose a fraction once.
1. Can you get to 1?
2. If not, what is the closest to 1 you can get?
Maths Quest Easter Special 2
This is a
game for two players.
The first player chooses a positive even number that is less than 50, and crosses it out on the grid.
The second player chooses a number to cross out. The number must be a factor or multiple of the first number.
Players continue to take it in turns to cross out numbers, at each stage choosing a number that is a factor or multiple of the number just crossed out by the other player.
Is there a strategy for winning? If so, can you explain?
Budding mathematicians should aim to get their solutions back to email@example.com by Friday 20 April and then the correct answers and solutions will be shown on the St George's Weybridge website. Please remember to include your name and your school when giving your answers.
Good luck!21 March 2018
