Gospel, British and Georgian values

Last Wednesday, Jess - who has replaced Kate as a full time member of the Chaplaincy Team at the College - gave a very inspiring presentation during Chapel Assemblies.

The theme of the presentation was prompted by this coming Sunday’s Gospel reading which contains the Beatitudes in Matthew’s Gospel.

Having reminded everybody of the five fundamental British values and how they are lived out here at the College, Jess then linked them to the sixteen Gospel values contained with the Beatitudes before moving on to show how all these values are present in everything we do here at the College.

Finally, Jess reminded everyone of the fundamental importance of Politesse and Douceur, which are the two foundational aspects of the School’s distinctive Georgian ‘Spirit of Family’ which part of the Josephite Educational Ethos here at the College.

Following the Assembly, the Chaplaincy team is currently running a competition to the end of January whereby students and staff have the chance each lunchtime to gain an extra toffee for every example they can give which directly links an aspect of school life with at least either the British or Gospel or Georgian values and, even better, all three values.
