French Spelling Bee success

On Tuesday 25 April, First Year students Henry, Olivia and Jemima competed in the Regional French Spelling Bee Finals after they finished as our school winners last term.

All three of the students performed excellently in a very difficult quarter final pool, with Jemima making it through to the semi final of eight contestants. She then placed fourth overall in the region after a gripping final involving a tie-break round, meaning that she has made it through to the National Finals on 30 June in Cambridge. 

It was an amazing feat to finish in the top four, considering the calibre of the competitors and that in the Southern Region alone, around 7,000 pupils were entered for the French Spelling Bee in the first round.

Well done to all three St George's College students on their remarkable achievements.
