Film Club inspired by Sky Studios visit

On Monday 15 May, twenty four Year 6 pupils travelled to Sky Studios in Osterley to tour working television studios and to see how the programmes we know so well are put together.

The group spent time on location in a studio used to televise Premier League football and also saw the work taking place in and around the live reporting of sports news; as you might imagine, the main focus was Chelsea FC! (They've just won the Premier League).

During their visit, the children even had the opportunity to make their own short news report on a topic of their choice. The children, who were comprised of members of Film Club and others with an interest in Geography, produced a short piece all about ‘natural disasters’, looking at the devastating effect of these forces of nature and how they occur. The children wrote, acted, filmed and directed their own report and even edited the footage afterwards!

It was a truly amazing experience for the children to see how programmes are made and to meet and interact with people involved in working in the television industry.
