Decision time as Captains of School hustings take place

The hustings for the new Captains of School took place on Monday 13 March in the Chapel at St George's College.

This was effectively the second round of the appointment process with 25 students applying for the roles initially. All wrote outstanding letters of application and then had to complete a team task which resulted in the final number of 14 students progressing to the next stage.

As students and staff alike gathered during lunchtime yesterday, one by one the candidates bravely stood up and spoke about why they should be Captains of St George's and what they will do if elected. After the hustings, staff and students vote for the roles of Head and Deputy Head Boy and Girl. In addition, the 14 students will be interviewed by Headmistress Mrs Owens and Head of Sixth Form Mrs Smith before the announcement is made.

The calibre of the applicants has been exceptional and all should be extremely proud of their roles in the process – it is the taking part that is important.
